Biography

Thompkins O Dell was a Virginia colonist.

Thompkins O Dell was part of a Southern Pioneer Family.

Thompkins was born about 1755 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. (Birth year based on 1830 census, listed as age 70-80.) He was the son of Caleb O'Dell and Alice Thorne. He passed away after 1830, probably in McNairy County, Tennessee. He is last found in records on the 1830 census in McNairy County.

Thompkins left Virginia possibly about 1780 and settled in the North Carolina Colony (prior to statehood in 1789) in an area which became part of Tennessee on its becoming a state in 1796.

Thompklins married Abigail Combs on 30 September 1788 in Washington County, North Carolina (became part of Tennessee in 1796).^[1]

Thompkins was listed on the 1803 Jackson County, Tennessee Early Tax List Records.^[2]

Tompkins Odle is found on the 1830 census in McNairy County, Tennessee. He appears to be a widower with perhaps a daughter or daughter-in-law and her children living with him. In the household are:
